Frequently Asked Questions
Our AI has been thoroughly tested with the course materials from "Dysgu Cymraeg", but is by no means limited to these resources. The key is clear vocabulary tables with Welsh words in one column and English translations in another.
Spaced repetition shows you flashcards at increasing intervals based on how well you remember them. Cards you find easy are shown less frequently, while difficult cards appear more often. This optimizes your learning and helps move vocabulary into long-term memory.
Currently, Flashcards Cymraeg requires an internet connection to work. We're considering offline functionality for future updates.
There's no limit to the number of flashcards you can create manually. AI-powered features (image uploads and PDF chapter extractions) use part of your monthly allowance, which is included with your subscription. Unused allowance does not roll over to the next month.
Yes! You can upload a PDF of your Welsh textbook directly to a project. The system will automatically discover the chapters in your PDF. You can then choose which chapters to convert into flashcard decks — just click "Create Deck" on any chapter. Each chapter is processed individually by the AI, which extracts Welsh-English vocabulary pairs into flashcards. See our AI Features guide for full details.
Chapters are extracted one at a time rather than all at once because each extraction uses AI processing, which takes time and uses part of your monthly allowance. This way you can prioritise the chapters most relevant to your current learning.
Test mode uses spaced repetition to help you memorise vocabulary long-term. You see a Welsh word, try to recall the answer, reveal it, then rate how well you remembered (Wrong, Hard, Good, or Easy). The system schedules each card for future review at the optimal time.
Drill mode is for active practice. It works through cards in two rounds — first multiple-choice, then type-the-answer — with a brief slideshow preview before each group. Drill mode is great for initial learning or quick revision. Your results also update the spaced repetition schedule, so every drill counts towards your progress.
The AI is quite accurate but not perfect. Always review generated cards and edit them as needed. You can modify the Welsh word, English translation, or add notes to any card.
Consistency is more important than duration. Try to study for 10-15 minutes daily rather than longer, infrequent sessions. The spaced repetition algorithm works best with regular use.
Yes, we take data security seriously. Your flashcards and study progress are stored securely and are only accessible to you. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
